About Georgians of HOPE

Hi, my name is Bryan Miller. I am 31 years old and live in Atlanta with my wife Anna and our infant son Henry. I am the grandson of Zell and Shirley Miller and have lived in Georgia my entire life.

Four years ago, I started the Zell Miller Foundation to preserve and promote my grandfather’s legacy. As governor, my grandfather had an idea to create a state lottery to fund a merit-based scholarship he named HOPE, which stands for Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally.

Since inception 28 years ago, the Georgia Lottery has generated over $11.3 billion to fund the HOPE Scholarship. This money has helped over 1.9 million Georgia students attend college on a HOPE Scholarship.

HOPE has led to increased college attendance rates, increased high school graduation rates, increased standardized test scores, and increased postsecondary degree completion.

Over the years, I have witnessed countless people share their stories of HOPE with my grandfather. Since he passed away two years ago, and because of my job leading the foundation, people now share their stories with me.

That is what inspired me to create Georgians of HOPE.

Georgians of HOPE is an educational initiative that raises awareness of the HOPE Scholarship’s impact on recipients, their families, and their communities.

The stories shared on this platform are theirs.

Please help us achieve our goal by sharing these inspiring messages of HOPE with your family and friends through social media.

I also want to ask you to contact us with your own story. Our team will follow up with you and we look forward to including it on the Georgians of HOPE platform.
